Fabio Longo, multi-instrumentalist, he plays double bass, violoni and electric bass professionally. Over the years he has studied electric bass with Dino D’Autorio, Riccardo Fioravanti, Luca Visigalli and
Gaetano Puzzutiello; double bass with Paolo Rizzi and Piermario Murelli, with whom he
graduated first at the Civica Scuola di Musica Claudio Abbado and later at the
Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi, both in Milan; violoni with Paolo Rizzi and Vanni
Moretto. For a more complete musical education he studied clarinet, piano, viola
da gamba, basso continuo and singing, simultaneously graduating with full marks in
ancient literature at the University of Milan. First double bass and violonist for various groups of ancient and baroque music
such as LaBarocca, an instrumental ensemble on original instruments born as an offshoot of the
Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano (LaVerdi), Ensemble Locatelli, La Terza Prattica, Musica
Antiqua Latina, I Madrigalisti Estensi, Vox Orchester, Chroma Baroque, Ensemble
Salomone Rossi, he takes part in numerous concerts and recordings between Italy, Switzerland,
Austria, Germany, Colombia, both in productions with historical instruments and as an
electric bassist in crossover productions between prog-rock and classical music – ORFEO BaRock by
Monteverdi/Toni, REQUIEM by Mozart/Del Puerto, etc. In the classical field, he is
usually called as first double bass or double bass in the row at the
Orchestra Sinfonica di Sanremo, Milano Classica, Orchestra Canova, Ensemble Testori/
WePlay.
Also very active in the pop music and musical circuit, between studio recordings, collaborations with orchestras, live, TV broadcasts and video clips in the pop field, he has worked for Sananda Maitreya (aka Terence Trent D’Arby), Marco Mengoni,
Diodato, Alessandra Amoroso, Elodie, Niccolò Fabi, Giovanni Caccamo, Andrea
Bocelli, etc.; he has worked for the main Italian musical theater companies such as
Stage Entertainment, Compagnia della Rancia, WEC, Teatro Brancaccio in the musicals
Chicago, Cats, Mary Poppins, Pretty Woman, Sister Act, Spring Awakening, Funny Girl.
